We all long for that wonderful companionship that really changes our lives…. No I’m not talking about a human companion. We’re talking pets! It’s especially hard to find a pet that’s apartment friendly. It’s hard to find the perfect pet that takes up little space and to nurture and care for an animal that needs exercise is not option in an apartment. This article will introduce you to pets that are ideal for little apartments and that can even add good vibes to your new home. We’re going to split these ideal apartment pets into 3 categories: Terrestrial, Oceanic, and Warming.

Terrestrial

Some pets can add some flare to a cool apartment theme. Some even bring out that extra visual appeal to the whole place. Try considering an amphibian or reptile. Geckos, turtles, toads, salamander, and even dragons can add an extra pizzazz into the room. They are also pets that are easy to care for and take little room. They require a tank that’s at least 10 gallons and 10 gallon tanks are usually no bigger than 2 feet. All you have to do is feed your little creature once a week (depending on which pet you go with) and clean their tank when needed. These pets go great with modern and neutral tones in the apartment and tend to stick out and wow guests. The only con to these creatures is that they may require you to drop some crickets into a tank. Some find this a drawback but the good news is they have dead ones for sale as well if you can’t find the courage to take on live action.

Oceanic

Oceanic pets are the most majestic of all. You can bring home the magic of the sea and let them add that calming air to your home. You don’t need to get the boring single goldfish if you don’t want to. Salt water fish always add extra cool points to any pad. You can always add any decoration to match your home. You can make fishes tank safari themed, oceanic themed, castle themed, etc. Not into fish? How about hermit crabs? Their decorated shells can boost up their dull appearances and they’re very easy to maintain. Just some dry food and water is all the need and they’re fairly easy to maintain. Only con is since you can’t really interact with the fish you may not be able to form an emotional bond.

Warming

For those of us who want a pet that sits on your lap and cuddles up with you this is your category. We’re going to discuss small pets that require little activity. Some small pets that you can consider is ferret, rabbit, guinea pigs, etc. They’re pretty self content but love the physical and emotional contact when they do have it. Since these are furry animals they require a lot more maintenance than the above but not too much. These little furry guys however, so smell a little bit when it comes time to use the bathroom. They’re not as bad as let’s say a dog or cat but all animals so carry these with them so daily clean ups are a must! They’re friendly, adorable, and cuddly and are less costly than bigger pets.

Although the above pets are great animals to add to a home make sure to do some extra research to see which pet is right for you. Always make sure to ask the landlord and any roommates you have if its OK to bring a new pet to your home.

If you have spent any time looking for motorcycle insurance you may be amazed to find that motorcycle insurance rates are far lower than those you would pay for automobile insurance. This is surprising because when you look at some of the statistics that surround motorcycle accidents compared to automobile accidents, it is no wonder motorcycles are referred to as donorcycles by so many doctors:

Motorcycle rider death rates increased among all rider age groups between 1998 and 2000

Motorcycle rider deaths were nearly 30 times more than drivers of other vehicles

Motorcycle riders aged below 40 are 36 times more likely to be killed than other vehicle operators of the same age

Motorcycle riders aged 40 years and over are around 20 times more likely to be killed than other drivers of that same age

13.10 cars out of 100,000 ended up in fatal crashes. The rate for motorcycles is 72.34 per 100,000 registered motorcycles

Motorcycles also have a higher fatality rate per unit of distance travelled when compared with automobiles

So when agencies like Allstate advertise rates starting at $100, and other insurance companies are just as competitive you have to ask yourself why.

A simple answer

Insurance is all about liability and risk. While riding a motorcycle carries much more risk for you the risk to someone else getting hurt or killed if you crash your bike into their car or truck is minimal. If you are hurt in a motorcycle accident and require hospital care, your health insurance covers any costs. Not your motorcycle insurance. If you are killed in a motorcycle crash then your life insurance will pay out a benefit. Your motorcycle insurance is not responsible.

The same is true with a car accident. If you are hurt or killed in an automobile accident that you caused, your auto insurance isn’t the one paying out the benefit. However, if you injure or kill another person in an accident where you are found liable, your insurance company will have to pay out a sum to the plaintiff in the case.

When it comes to automobile insurance rates, the high cost is associated with paying premiums comes from exactly this type of scenario. Since the odds, and the severity, of someone else being hurt or killed in a crash caused by a car are much greater than that of a motorcycle, the cost is proportionately higher as well.

Of course when looking for insurance coverage, there is more to consider than just cost. Finding the cheapest policy isn’t always the best strategy. Make sure that whenever you are shopping for insurance you cover all of your needs first and then look to cost. Decisions should be smart, not just thrifty.

We quite literally are what we eat. If we eat junk food all the time our bodies eventually become “ a piece of junk” because we are no longer healthy and able to function properly. By eating healthy we can ensure that our bodies stay healthy, young, and function properly. Our bodies were created to help us get through our lives and that means we’ve got an army inside us ready to fight off any disease.

Of course eating these foods, or any others, will not guarantee that you will remain disease free however certain foods have been proven, and recommended by doctors, to help prevent disease.

As with any illness or disease you should always consult with your doctor.

Depression and anxiety: Brewer’s yeast! This contains Contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, 16 amino acids and 14 minerals. Add a thimbleful into any smoothie or shake as a daily dose. Amino acids are the building blocks of all living things and our nervous system is what makes our world go round. So it’s a no brainer (get it?) that Brewer’s yeast is what you should turn to for preventing depression.

Heart disease- Good oils! Oil changes aren’t just goof for cars… it works with us too! Eating foods that contain healthy oils or using healthy oils to cook your food really make a difference. Try using extra virgin olive oil instead of your standard veggie oil. Oily fish are also good for you. Sardines, tuna, salmon, and mackerel contain omega-3 fatty acids. They help reduce triglycerides and increase HDL-cholesterol levels. This in turn helps improve vessel elasticity and thins the blood. Thin blood + elastic vessels= less likely for clots and block blood flow.

High blood pressure- Skim milk. Wasn’t expecting that one were you? Researchers found that drinking a glass of skim milk a day can cut blood pressure by a third! Any foods that contain calcium, potassium, and magnesium have been shown to play a vital role in lowering and preventing high blood pressure.

Diabetes- Onions! Yes, they make you cry but they will keep you from crying about diabetes in the future too! All members of the onion family (garlic, leek, onion, and scallions) help regulate blood sugar. Use at least one of these a day and you will be set.

Cancer- Fruits and veggies. Fruits have plenty of anti-oxidants in them which is great for our body. It helps you age more gracefully as well as prevent cancer. Anti-oxidants are substances that help eliminate free radicals in our bodies which cause damage to our cells. These little radicals are like little bombs that are playing bumper cars with our body. Cancer is contributed by oxidative damage by these little things. By eating plenty of fruits and veggies these anti-oxidants become our undercover Clark Kent and kick butt when they come across the radical.

Of course eating these foods, or any others, will not guarantee that you will remain disease free however certain foods have been proven, and recommended by doctors, to help prevent disease.

Starting out together as a new couple brings not only new possibilities, but new responsibilities. Spending time together, love, traveling, creating memories… those are the types of things that are on your mind, not the everyday, mundane things that you have to think about such as bills, money, grocery shopping, doing the laundry, and getting insurance…

Unfortunately, real life does eventually have to come into play and important questions must be answered and action must also be taken to protect your assets. Starting off on your own, you will more than likely rent – mostly due to the fact that short term, renting is cheaper.

Many people assume that because they are renting, that there is little of value to protect inside of the unit. This is a common misconception because if you were to take inventory of all of your belongings, you may realize that the cost of your bed, dresser, tables, couches, chairs, clothing, computers, televisions, and other items add up very quickly. You may end up realizing that everything may well be over $20,000 by the time all is said and done – and not many people would be able to afford to replace all of those belongings at once. The small, monthly cost of having renter’s insurance not only outweighs the cost of having to fix or replace all of your worldly possessions, it is also required by many landlords.

Here are some benefits of having renter’s insurance:

Being able to replace your belongings in the case of theft or damage due to unforeseen circumstances that may befall on your rental property such as a fire or flood. Many young couples (and more established ones for that matter), wouldn’t be able to afford to replace part or all of their belongings such as furniture, electronics, and clothing.

Renter’s insurance is relatively inexpensive. Depending on the size of the unit you are renting and the value you place on all of your belongings if you were to have to replace everything, your costs can be as low as $5 a month. If you already carry car insurance and/or life insurance, your current company may also offer renter’s insurance and also provide additional discounts for multiple policies.

Due to the use of the internet, shopping for renter’s insurance is easy and quick. By being able to shop around, you can also find the cheapest prices. Due to the amount of companies out there as well, you have many options and don’t be afraid to tell an agent that you are shopping around and that you received a better quote from someone else. You will be surprised at how quickly they will offer a lower price or willing to give discounts.

For many people, the tax they owe is not the problem, but handling the process of tax filing is. The US tax code is often a difficult thing to decipher, and you think that ignoring this would do. Well, ignoring is never an option when it comes to taxes. The right thing to do is to get some help.

Errors in tax preparation may result in problems and even lead to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits. What are the common mistakes people make when filing a tax return? Here is a quick look.

Error in names and Social Security Numbers

Error in calculations

Error in selecting the right tax bracket

Error in reporting deductions

Error in using the right forms

Error in including all income

Error in ascertaining tax dependants

Error in filing the return on time

Error in signing the return

If you are filing the return using mail, the chances of error are more. Electronic filing is a better option. The software program you use makes it possible to complete the filing process without errors like these. It may highlight the errors you make on the return or even rectify them.

It is better to opt for an online service that offers help for individuals and businesses when it comes to tax filing. The advantage of selecting this is – it ensures error free filing without any bother to you. You may also choose an in-person tax preparer but choosing an online service is much less a hassle for you.

Different online tools are available to cater to different needs. Whether you need basic tax filing or premium products for complicated tax issues, these tools could help ease the task for you. All you need to do is find the right online tool for your needs and utilize it for tax related matters.

Make sure you are aware of the service details when you are choosing tax preparation help. Without adequate awareness of the product, you may not be able to choose the right option. The value for money matters most when you are trying to decide on this.

A helmet is the most important accessory for a motorcycle rider because it can save a life, your life or someone you care about. Every biker should pay careful attention while choosing a helmet; this is more than just bells and whistles. A safe and comfortable helmet can increase the riding pleasure of a biker and increase their lifespan if there is an accident.

Certified by D.O.T.

The very first thing that a biker should determine while buying a motorcycle helmet is that it must be certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) This certification can be identified by a sticker on the helmet’s back. A D.O.T. certified helmet means that the helmet has already passed the stringent quality and safety standards set by the department. Such a helmet will be designed to sustain a great amount of impact energy to prevent penetration.

Secondly, its fastening system will be strong enough to withstand a substantial amount of force. The quality of the expanded polystyrene (EPS) lining of foam is the third crucial element that determines the helmet’s safety. Another testing standard for helmets is the Snell Foundation. Helmet manufacturers that are certified by both D.O.T. and Snell may be the best because they conform to the standards of both organizations and their strict parameters.

Retaining Power and Fit

Your motorcycle helmet should fit your head snugly, and must not have a tendency to slip off when you move your head. When the strap is firmly fastened in its place, the helmet should exert a slight force on your chin. That is an indication that your helmet is snugly in its place. If you hold the rear of the helmet and attempt to roll it forward off your head, the helmet must not come off. That simple test ensures that the helmet is well-fitting.

The helmet’s strap will usually fasten by passing through twin D-rings. This conventional fastening system continues to be the safest and most effective option for helmets. To choose the right fit, you should check the sizing and fit instructions on the helmet. If you buy a full-face helmet, it should firmly grip your cheeks and jaw, and also hold firmly the top and sides of your head.

Comfort Level

Comfort is one of the key elements in a motorcycle helmet. As long as the rider is comfortable, the chances of accidents or distractions are reduced. This is particularly true on long journeys when an uncomfortable helmet can certainly have a negative impact on the trip.

Many experienced motorcycle riders are of the opinion that full-face helmets are more comfortable than open-face helmets. To choose the most comfortable helmet, you may have to visit more than one dealer to look for the most fitting size, model, and make that works best for your head. You can also make this purchase online as well without driving anywhere. Better known brands may usually be more comfortable.

Style & Safety

In addition and finally, aesthetics matter too. You can purchase a safe and dependable helmet (certified by the D.O.T. and Snell) while it matches the bike’s paintjob and/or style. The helmet can match your safety jacket and so forth. Your helmet may impress others while you know it will protect your head in case of an accident.

Most of us do not understand the letter of the law. We know what we think is right and wrong. That can often be very different than what is legal, not legal, and what deserves compensation, and what does not. Only compensation lawyers can assess your situation before a court does. It is certainly worth stopping and thinking about. The next time you are in a car accident and as you go to call your insurance company and the police, here are a few things you should think about. Here are a few points worth considering the next time you are in a bingle.

Health. When we have a car crash we will feel alarmed. Even the smallest car crash in a shopping centre car park will be a shock. When we are shocked our bodies release adrenalin. This is a medical fact, and the common response to any similar situation. Adrenalin makes us aware, and adrenalin gives us strength. You may be hurt and not know it because of Adrenalin. You must always go to a doctor or hospital immediately after an accident, no matter how small, because you possibly do not know you have been hurt. Spinal injuries can take months to surface, and can be caused by, what can appear to be, the smallest of nudges. We must remember, cars are heavy, which means a considerable amount of motion. A small bump can have large ramifications.

Keeping Calm. It will be hard to remember to stay calm when you are excited and driven by Adrenalin. Reading this will help you to remember. Even if you know you are not in complete logical control of your situation, you still will not behave in a similar manner as you normally do. ‘Fight or Flight Response’ by animals and humans alike, has been well documented for some time. Know this, and do your best to remember. Take the advice of those around you. Remember, calling the Police is a must, and getting yourself into the care of professionals is your priority. Hopefully, you will have responsible adults around to help you through the situation. This is not always the case, and remember this now, and this will influence you thoughts if such a situation occurs.

Legal Advice. If we are at work, there will be someone around to help, and someone to advise us to consult workers compensation lawyers. It would be a matter of course. When we are in an incident and in public, and particularly alone, we can often forget what is important. Speed without haste is the essence of the situation. Deal with your legal obligations if possible, and seek a medical examination (if you are lucky enough). Your next step is to seek the advice of an injury or compensation lawyer. Your personal opinion is irrelevant. Consultation is generally free, and in many cases, no win no fee lawyers are there to help.

Lawyers working in this sophisticated area of law can generally assess whether you case will be successful or not. They can do this because they have experience. They would not be able to offer such conditions, if this was not the case. Always stop and think about the future consequences of any unfortunate situation. The ramifications on your lifestyle and health may not appear for some time. Without taking the appropriate measures and steps at the time of the incident, you will have little to stand on. The law is the law.

I recently wrote another article about how I discovered we were literally throwing money away on an insurance policy we had for years. Believe it or not, all of this I learned while playing Baby Bingo at a shower! Needless to say, I feel as though this really is an important topic because we have recently found out that other family members and a few friends have also been wasting money as well. In today’s economy, who really has extra money to just throw away, especially with children?

If you are like most families today, your paychecks are spent on bills, mortgages and other necessities the minute they hit your bank account. Many families look for expenses to cut such as eliminating their morning stop at the cafe, clipping coupons, etc, because the cost of living seems to keep rising yet the paychecks aren’t. Funny how that works! Budgeting does not have to be a chore, and instant cash title loans are perhaps an option, but consider how you can save money when buying your car insurance. I have a few insurance tips that I have found from experience that could lower your premium substantially.

1. Determine Your Needed Coverage – When you start shopping around, you should know that most agents will quote you coverage that you may not need. If you have a lien or lease, there are standards that apply however, if you have a vehicle that is paid for, you don’t necessarily need so much coverage on it.

2. Know Your Driving Record – While most people know their credit score and everything on their credit record, few people know what their driving record looks like. This will play a key role in your premium.

3. Be Familiar With Your Vehicle – When you start calling around for auto insurance quotes, you want to be able to tell the person on the other line absolutely everything about your vehicle that could qualify you for a discount. If your car comes in a two and four door model and you happen to have a four door, this is valuable information because they are cheaper to insure than a two door. You will want to know if your car has passkey or any safety features such as anti-lock brakes or airbags. While these features are standard on new models, if your vehicle is a littler older you may not get credit for these options unless you present the information.

4. Drive and Storage – If you are only driving your vehicle three miles to work, be sure your agent knows that or if it is a secondary or weekend only means of transportation, this is important to reveal too. Additionally, if your car is parked in a garage at your residence you will traditionally get a cheaper rate as well.

5. Compare Apples to Apples – When you get your quotes from different companies, make sure that they all have the same coverage and deductible and that the agent has been provided with the same amount of information.

I know that you’re busy and the last thing that you want to do is spend an afternoon reviewing your policy and getting quotes but it’s worth it. A little extra savings every month can go toward other bills, date night without the kids or you could put it away to save up for a vacation!

An increasing number of men are buying motorcycles in their middle age to beat the proverbial “mid life crisis” and stay young. Here is a selection of 10 tried and tested motorcycles that fit this group perfectly.

Kawasaki KLR650

The Kawasaki KLR650 is a very dependable bike that has been around for over twenty years, and still rules the hearts of many. It is a true motorcycle for bike fanatics and beginners alike. It has undergone a recent redesign, which makes it even more attractive. Its height is 35 inches, which may be a little taller for some new riders.

Honda XR650L

Honda’s XR650L is a rugged dual-purpose bike, ideal for taller riders with its 37-inch height. Its dependable, air-cooled single cylinder engine makes it an ideal machine for those looking for reliability over everything else.

Kawasaki Ninja 650R

The Ninja 650R is more powerful version of the 500R. It sports a flexible parallel twin engine. The engine is powerful, but the bike is easy to use and highly operable.

Kawasaki Versys

As the name suggests, this is a versatile bike that cuts across categorizations. Its 659cc engine products strong acceleration, but the bike is characterized by its excellent sense of balance.

Ducati Monster 696

The ones who are looking for a bike with a unique personality and do not mind the relatively costlier maintenance costs of a Ducati, this Italian machine is a marvelous choice. It is very rare to find a buyer who is disappointed after spending some time on it.

BMW 650 Xmoto

This supermoto bike offers all the rugged and tough features that all BMW bikes are associated with. Its 53 HP single cylinder engine makes it one of the tamest BMW machines on the market, making it ideal for starters. Like any BMW product, you know class and luxury follow this bike around.

Triumph Daytona 675

This 675cc 3-cylinder supersport bike from Triumph is a popular choice among newbies and experienced riders alike. It offers a perfect mix of torque and horsepower in a very usable chassis, which makes it an engineering delight. This is a bike that is specially made and the details went into the design and fabrication.

Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Classic

This model ranks pretty high on most lists featuring Harley-Davidson bikes. This “Touring” model features a V Twin engine, runs on two cylinders and uses gas. There is nothing like a sound of a Harley.

Harley-Davidson VRSC V-Rod Muscle

Riders who are keen on a sporty looking Harley-Davidson may opt for VRSC V-Rod Muscle which is designed as a sport model. It runs on two cylinders with a V Twin engine, and costs nearly the same as the Electra Glide Classic.

Honda CBR1000 RR Fireblade

Those who are looking for a 1000 sticker to beat the mid life crisis may consider this powerful machine from Honda. Its perfect blend of power and poise continues to keep the Fireblade topping the sales charts. The bike also commands a good resale value even after several years of use. This is the status that Honda has earned.

Safety Measures

It does not matter what bike you choose, wear a helmet regardless. Anyone on a motorcycle is exposed and even the toughest motorcycle is at a disadvantage to even the most pathetic car such as Prius or another light weight vehicle. There are aspects (like your health) that are more important than a mid-life crisis.

The majority of motorcycle accidents are situations where the motorcyclist is located in an inescapable path, resulting in a serious injury. Unfortunately, a very high percentage of those motorcycle accidents could have been avoided by the motor vehicle driver. Which leads to the reason for this article, what should you do if you are involved in a motorcycle accident?

It is common for someone to be in shock after any kind of accident, especially for the person on the motorcycle. The motorcyclist may be experiencing internal or external injuries and some of those injuries will not be visible to eyewitnesses at the scene. With that in mind, it is important to make sure someone calls for medical assistance and do not offer any information about ‘how you feel’. You may feel okay at first, but in most incidents, you are not!

It is understandable that staying cool and trying to remember what to do in such a disastrous situation can be extremely hard, but accomplishing just a few of the key steps highlighted below could increase your chances of being compensated for your injuries.

Call 911: Or have someone at the accident call 911 if you are seriously injured.

Assess Your Situation: Do you see bones or joints out of place? Are you feeling sharp pains? If so, you need to lie still until an ambulance shows up, try to have someone else collect accident scene information for you.

Collect Names: If you are able to move or can find someone to help, collect the name and phone number of each witness at the accident scene.

Work with the Authorities: Make sure to be polite, no matter how upset or not-at-fault you were. Offer any information you can remember about moments before the accident occurred for the official accident report.

Do not offer feedback on your physical condition: Adrenaline causes the body to endure severe pain without feeling it during a moment of shock. If you plan to pursue a lawsuit, let the paramedics or ER doctor document injuries after a professional evaluation.

Take a Few Pictures: With many different cell phones equipped with cameras, someone may be able to capture a few pictures of the accident scene for you. Collecting names will allow you to track those pictures down later.

Take Care of Yourself: Call a lawyer as soon as you can. Many personal injury lawyers offer no-cost representation unless a settlement is reached. They will explain the importance of keeping records, documents to avoid signing, and much more. There is a statute of limitations and the sooner you act the better.

Keep these steps in mind and share them with your loved ones and friends that enjoy the excitement of motorcycle riding. As a Florida resident with many family members that ride; I make sure to check twice.

Save a life, check twice!
