The research was conducted by the scientists at the University of Texas in San Antonio.

Similarly, men wearing expensive clothes and driving luxurious, eye-catching cars are usually much more likely to have flings and remain single for longer period of time as compared with their less well-off peers.

Definitely, the news that some women would rather spend a night with a dude driving Mercedes, not a Clio does not come as a surprise as it complies with the common opinion. Yet, the interesting aspect of the research is discovering some tips for reading the signals that our choices send to the world, as Dr Jill Sundie, a marketing professor at the University of Texas believes.

It looks like men spend reasonable amounts of money for splashy personal extravagancies when they want to communicate to the opposite sex that they prefer a “short-term relationship”. Some could compare it to the peacock’s tail, the bigger and prettier it is, the clearer the message for the females: the owner of the prettiest tail has better genes than his opponents.

Women, as well, understand these signal, even on a subconscious level and adjust their reaction according to their own preferences. As a result, they get interested if they are into a love affair and it does not impress them at all if they prefer long term relation. Apparently, a rich man that is showing off looks like a good date. This can be true only for these women who look for something temporary, otherwise such man will be surely turned down.

The research has been based on the results coming from questioning almost 1,000 women and men in four separate studies, analyzing the signals and the way the opposite sex reacts to them. Then, the results were published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

To end with, it is worth mentioning that not all men who find pleasure in spending money on fancy cars and gadgets hope to have a fling and not all the women who date such guys look for short term relation only.
That’s where the hope comes from.

Impressing a woman is not difficult. It requires a little sugar, a little spice and a lot of patience. However, if the perfect lady is available do not hesitate to act. A romantic image is enhanced by traditional gifts such as flowers (especially roses), chocolates and soft toys. It is also produced by natural conversation, honesty and self confidence.

1. An impressive man is well groomed.

It seems basic. A well groomed man is an impressive man. Women like men who are clean, and well dressed. Men, who are dirty, smell of sweat and wear clothes that look like they came from the rubbish, will not have a second date. Self confidence is a difficult trait to develop. However, the more time spent with women, the more confidence will grow. Self confidence can be shown by taking the lead in paying for bills or making tough decisions. A decisive man will carry an aura of self worth.

4. Healthy living.

A man, who takes care of himself by going to the gym or playing sport, will impress a woman. A healthy man, who looks after his physique but does not obsess over it, is attractive. Physical presence plays a large role in impressing women.

5. Traditional gifts.

Everybody loves gifts, but women love romantic gifts. Giving flowers, particularly roses, is a very popular gesture. A soft toy, chocolates or a bottle of champagne at a scenic location will all be appreciated. These small gifts convey caring and thoughtfulness.

6. Remembering important dates.

To impress a woman it is also important to remember significant dates. These can include anniversaries of first meetings, Valentine’s Day, birthdays and other dates significant to the relationship. Celebrating these dates with special dinners or presents will maintain a relationship.

7. Honesty.

An honest man is hard to find. A woman is most impressed by a man who is honest. The man should be open about his feelings and his expectations of the relationship .He should also be true to his own personality. Changing personality to impress a woman is not a useful strategy.

Most importantly a man should be honest about his emotions. Women enjoy talking about emotions and feelings and an impressive man is aware of this. Although it may not be pleasant to talk about these subjects, a woman will appreciate somebody who is prepared to indulge in the subject.

Impressing a woman involves care and attention. Listening and conversing with a woman, considering her feelings and being prepared to discuss them is important. Giving gifts to celebrate important occasions will also melt the coldest heart. Most importantly an impressive man is somebody with confidence in themselves and their abilities.

In any relationship one stands to lose a great deal if they hold onto things like, self preservation and itemize each wrong done to them. A committed relationship involves unity. No one wants to completely lose themselves inside this union. Stubborn people might find that they are reaching out to each other with lines drawn in the sand. It would be impossible for the relationship to grow under those circumstances. If neither partner is ready to call it quits they might experience a “cease fire” for a moment, until something else brings the feud back on.

Any family marriage counselor will tell you that the vast majority of all couples want to stay together. This feeling of commitment even trickles down to couples who have gone through a divorce. When asked, divorced couples will loudly state that they think marriage should be forever.

So the question then arises, why do so many people get divorced? In far too many cases people who are married that speak with a marriage and family counselor will not get proper advice. Their understanding on how to heal their marriage or prevent problems from occurring is incomplete and harmful.

When divorce became a viable option during the past few decades and society started viewing it with a “yawn”, the marriage counselor even the christen marriage counselor seemed to be leading couples down a path strewn with marriages that wouldn’t survive. What happened was that divorce stopped being stigmatized and started being viewed as a positive way of proceeding with life if your marriage encountered too many speed bumps.

Instead of couples asking for advice on how to find a marriage counselor they started asking about finding a marriage counselor that would relieve their anxiety about getting a divorce. All too often they would find someone who was more than willing to accommodate what they were really after. A wink and a nod towards putting their marriage back together again instead of good solid advice on how to save their relationship. All of this was done by people who would pass along to their clients inaccurate information about the terrible cost and the havoc that divorce would bring to these couples.

What started to happen was that a marriage counselor would not take sides. They would not say that it was better to stay in a marriage or to get out of it. What they would, and still do say, is that you should do whatever makes you feel good. What type of advice is that? That is telling a person who might already be angry to go ahead and give up on a commitment they made simply because they are not happy at the moment.

What people really should do before they get married is find a pre marriage counselor. Someone whose sole interest is vested in a couple that is thinking about getting married and making sure that they do everything possible to take care of problems, real or perceived, before they get married.

All too often people find out after they get divorced that they are not any happier. After it is too late divorced couples find out they were happier being married. The marriage counselor cost is cheap compared to the divorce lawyer cost. The lawyer has no interest if you stay together or get divorced. A good marriage counselor will try and help couples work their way through problems and come to an agreeable understanding. With all the help that is available, you can even get free counseling with a clergy or find an online marriage counselor, why do you suppose people give up on their marriages so easily?

I suppose it is because they talk to the wrong people, think the grass is greener on the other side, have unrealistic expectations, and don’t seek help from a qualified marriage counselor.

About the worst (and funniest) thing that can occur to a couple that are trying to work out problems in their marriage, is to take the elevator up to see a marriage counselor and have the background music play Neil Sedaka’s song.  You have to admit it would be funny. 

Maybe it would be considered a sign that the couple had reached the end of the road with their relationship and it was time to move on.  A sign, yes that is what it would be.  The Muzak Gods would be sending a message directly into the elevator.

The best break up songs are the ones that seem to lift your spirits as they tell the story of heartbreak and betrayal.  Not an easy task, but that is why there are professional song writers.  It is a little bit strange that we can go around whistling, humming, and singing these depressing songs.  But we do and we like it.

Music and songs are often used as counseling for couples.  There are lessons to learned, connections to be made, and long teary eyed looks to be gazed.  It is all so dramatic.

Deep back in the memories of the characters of these sad break up songs are cherished chapters of broken lives and fractured love affairs.  Wedding Cakes that were cut and eaten with loved ones and friends.  Honeymoons, vacations, family get-togethers all vanish in a haze of overdubbing and quivering voices aching to end the pain.

Good break up songs make their point while still coming across as a sing a long for the rest of us who are not experiencing the heartache of loves cruel intent.

Angry break up songs are my favorite.  This is the type of song that you would hear while watching the movie “War of the Roses”.  The two participants have learned to hate each other.  As a matter of fact they relish in the thought of finding new and interesting ways of hurting each other.  Life doesn’t get any better or more interesting.  These types of songs have humor, at least to outsiders, built into them.  Breaking up becomes a game to the participants with winners and losers.  The song is the soundtrack. 

Without a doubt country break up songs are the absolute best.  Those country artist have break up songs down to a science.  They have been at it since the beginning of country music and have shown no signs of letting up.  They can sing funny break up songs that include their mothers, dogs, jobs, getting drunk, new girlfriends, ex-wives, and everything else including the kitchen sink.  And they do it so well.  Country music is custom made for these types of songs.

Great break up songs make us think of our own relationships, present, past, and hopefully future.  Nobody is immune to going through a break up.  When we first started dating the worst thing that could happen is when the girl said she wanted to move on or the guy showed up with another on his arm.  It is just part of life that all of us have had to learn to navigate. 

But happy break up songs are the type that we all like to listen to.  We really don’t hear the pain in the song if it is happy and upbeat.  We just overlook the obvious with an ear toward the catchy chorus and bouncy beat of the music.

And that brings us to new break up songs.  All we can say is the more things change the more they stay the same.  Down through history break up songs have run the gamut of happy, sad, funny, and angry.  And they still do because nothing really changes.

There is little doubt that the wedding cake carries with it the most important role within the tradition of celebrating a true dream marriage. In ancient times the wedding guests would give the cake to the bride as a present, the gesture being a representation and desire for this fertile union. Nowadays the cake still carries the same equivalent tradition and it is imperative that every wedding prides itself with the best possible cake. It is important to note that wedding cakes also serve an essential role when it comes to the newlyweds. It will be the “first meal” that they will share after getting married.

The shape of the wedding cake as we know it today was first achieved on the seventeenth century by a French baker, who made several cakes of different sizes and covered them with bitumen thus being able to achieve a tower of cakes. Later on, in England, bakers would pile up lots of different sized cakes with little success as they would loose shape rapidly due to the weight. During the seventeenth century the idea of several cakes piled up was left behind and people opted for a single large one, which still remains. Nowadays cakes keep the basic French idea with their multi-storey tower look.

The presence of the wedding cake in the reception area is very important, but it is also important the way the cake arrives (accompanied by the wedding tunes) and the way it is placed on the most special table at the reception next to other types of desserts. It is then when the newlyweds go through the process of cutting the cake by holding the knife together; which has become the most powerful image of tradition and symbolism within the ceremony of marriage.

Wedding cakes are usually white but lately brides have moved away from tradition looking for newer trends and styles. Based on themes, wedding receptions have opted for more modern ways of expressing the act of matrimony with the use of different colors within the wedding decor, and it is important that wedding cakes always match the style chosen by the newlyweds.
