Wii Golf is one of the games that comes in the Wii Sports suite. Whatever your skill level (as a gamer or as a golfer), Wii Golf is one of the most difficult sports games made for the console. However, by familiarizing yourself with the game and by taking the time to practice, you can become a gold champ in no time! So show them who is boss and golf like a pro with these wii golf tips:
1. Practice Your Swing

At the beginning of each hole, your character will be a few steps behind the ball. You can use this opportunity to practice your swing. Make sure you are holding the controller face down with the buttons facing out. If you are using the strap, make sure it is attached comfortably. If it is too tight, it may negatively affect your swing. As you practice your swings, pay close attention to the power meter on the right side of the screen. With practice, you will be able to see how much power is behind each swing. Remember, some holes will require very powerful hits while others will require a more gentle approach. However, you never want the power meter to go into the red. This will cause you to slice or hook the ball.
2. Be Aware of the Wind

Just like in real life, wind strength and direction can affect the trajectory of your golf ball. Both wind strength and direction are shown on the top left corner of the screen. Wind speeds vary from 0 to 30 mph in the game. It may take a lot of practice, but you have to learn to counterbalance the wind with the amount of power you use and the direction in which you hit the ball. You can change direction with the Left and Right directional buttons. A good way to compensate for the wind speed is to find its mph and then move your aim that same number of clicks away from your target.

3. Know Each Hole

There are only nine holes in this game so it is possible to become very familiar with them with continued practice. When you are near a hole, you can press “1” in order for the game to show you the slope of the land. You can also press “2” to kneel down and look along your ball to the hole. Take these views into consideration and counterbalance accordingly. Be aware that on most holes, the position of the pin varies. Also, remember that, as on real golf courses, the distance you will be able to hit from the rough or the sand is greatly diminished. Try your best to avoid these areas!

4. Take Your Swing!

Once you are ready to hit the ball, hold the remote down and press the “A.” This will move your character near the ball, and you will be ready to play. Now that you have read some tips on the game, it’s time to put them into practice. Nothing will improve your game as much as actually playing. After all, that is where the fun is!

Going to the horse races on the weekend is a quintessential Australian pastime. Whether you are going to try to win big or you just want to enjoy the racing culture, you are probably going to have a crack at picking a winner. Here are a few horse racing tips for the amateur gambler who is trying to get the most excitement for their dollar at the races.

The Form Guide

The local paper will always include a Form Guide on the day before the races. This guide tells you which horses are in each race, how long the races are, the gate the horses will be starting from, how well each horse has performed in their last five races and the current odds for each one. You can also read a detailed description of each of the horses previous five races to help you decide what conditions each of them perform their best in. The Guide basically gives you all the information and racing tips you need to make an educated decision as to which horse you will back.

The Name

When choosing your winner on race day, read through the names of all the horses and see if any pop out to you. A little intuition can go a long way in the racing business! If a name jumps out at you, or you think a name can really describe a personality, then go ahead and give it a try!

The Look

The way a horse looks can sometimes give you insight as to how well it will perform. On the parade ground, size up each horse: does it look strong and athletic, or skinny and weak? Is it calm and stable, or feisty and uncontrolled? This is where you can really use your good judgment before placing your bet.

The Numbers

Pay attention to the amount of weight that each horse must carry as a handicap, as well as which gate it will be starting from. Sometimes particular horses can have a clear advantage, and if you are paying attention you may be able to cash in.

The History

You will not only want the horse’s history, but also that of the jockey and the owner. If the owner has had a lot of winning horses, then they may have the winning formula. You also want to see that the jockey has a good winning history as they play a surprisingly important role in the horse’s performance during the race.

The Favourite

If your mind is boggled by all the statistics and the subtle nuances of choosing which horse to back, why not start off by backing the favourite? There is a really good chance that the clear favourite will win the race. You may not get rich by backing this horse, but you will have a more enjoyable day if you are picking the right ones!

A day at the races can be super fun if you know what you are looking for in a horse. Remember to just make small bets at first until you get the hang of it!

With just three weeks until the start of The Rugby World Cup, one of the favourite teams to lift the Webb Ellis Cup has shocked the rugby world with news of its final 30-man squad.

Australia’s decision to strip the captaincy from flanker Rocky Elsom has surprised many for both its unprecedented nature and its proximity to the start of the tournament in neighbouringNew Zealand, not to mention the potential it has to be a sports PR fiasco.

A ruthless decision taken by coach Robbie Deans – who may well need reputation management to help explain his decision – Elsom has missed recent games due to injury, but taking the captain’s armband away so close to the World Cup will surely be counterproductive. The effect it will have on a young team with a passionate nation’s expectations on their shoulders waits to be seen.

In contrast Elsom has conducted himself admirably in the wake of the news, not even unleashing his emotions upon Twitter as so many ill-advised athletes often do – a sports PR agency’s worst nightmare.

However the more shocking news is the absence of utility-back Matt Giteau. Arguably the most talented Australian rugby player of his generation, not including the experienced Wallaby could prove to be a grave error and the Australian PR machine will have to be well oiled to crisis manage the inevitable furore over the decision.

With Deans refusing to comment why Giteau has not been included, indications suggest the fly-half’s decision to play for the French sideToulonthis season and not a native club has led to his exclusion. Whatever the reason,Australia’s PR team have their work cut out for them in the weeks leading up to the World Cup.

There is something very special about conquering a new skill especially when you can use that skill to get some very healthy exercise in a wonderful environment, I think they call it feeling alive.

All I can say is I am so glad I persevered and can now enjoy this wonderful sporting activity, so if you think you are too old you may want to think again, I am now in my 50's and I am still going strong with what has become one of my favorite pass times, my only regret is that I didn't quite make skiing as a teenager, could have been so much better for so much longer.

I had always had an idea that I would like to ski right from being a teenager, I did the usual thing of asking my parents if I could go on the school skiing trip but found that the financial implications were a bit too high for my parents to manage as I was one of four children and money was tight.

My next attempt at going skiing came quite a few years later when I was a member of the Royal Air Force and tried to take up the option of going on a forces led ski trip, unfortunately I fell foul again, this time because I had applied to leave the air force and it was decided, quite rightly, that I had ruled myself out of this option and was not eligible, someone else who was not leaving the air force got the place.

I then tried again when I was in my late thirties but would you believe it, this time I had a medical problem and ended up in hospital just as I was about to go on my privately paid skiing holiday, having finally got a job that provided enough cash for me to go skiing. I thought that was it and that it just wasn’t my destiny to go skiing and that I should give up on it.

I didn’t reckon on my wife though who had been skiing on several occasions and was completely hooked on the sport. She talked me into having one last try just after my 39th birthday.

Was I glad she did because I discovered what a fantastic and exhilarating sport it is, OK I nearly killed myself learning to ski and not being a particularly fit 39 year old or a natural skier, learning the basic skills strained every muscle and sinew in my body, even a few I didn’t know I had, but gradually and bit by bit, by taking skiing lessons, I learned the basic skills and started to negotiate not only the easy blue runs but then the reds and finally I managed a black run.

I honestly believe that this would not have happened if I had not committed to taking lessons that give you the basic skills, some of the things you do when skiing are a bit counter intuitive and without expert tuition you could learn some very bad habits that would prevent you mastering the steeper slopes which are much less forgiving of poor technique.

But what a buzz when you do master those skills, not only do you get to see some of the most fantastic scenery the world has to offer but you can actually throw yourself off a mountain and shoot down the slopes at what seems incredible speed, not as fast as Ski Sunday and actually not that fast at all really but you don’t realize that, from your perspective you could be in a world downhill challenge so who cares if its actually a tad slow. There is something very special about conquering a new skill especially when you can use that skill to get some very healthy exercise in a wonderful environment, I think they call it feeling alive.

All I can say is I am so glad I persevered and can now enjoy this wonderful sporting activity, so if you think you are too old you may want to think again, I am now in my 50′s and I am still going strong with what has become one of my favorite pass times, my only regret is that I didn’t quite make skiing as a teenager, could have been so much better for so much longer.

Workout music to one person is elevator music to another person. But no matter where your taste in music happens to fall, a few “truths” about the music you listen to while exercising will always hold true.

The music needs punch. By punch we mean that the feeling that needs to be conveyed is one of pure energy. The pulse, the punch, the tension that you feel will make you want to continue with your workout and strive to go faster and further.

While it is true that professional athletes concentrate on internal forces such as body and efficiency of movement, the rest of us mere mortals will divide our attention between the people that are working out around us, hopefully goals that we set, and anything that will motivate us to achieve those goals. And that is where good workout music comes into the picture.

There have been studies conducted that state that really good motivational songs and music will help rid you of any feelings of being tired and add to your overall performance level during your workout. Basically what the music does is get you in the “groove”. I’m sure you have been there before. You are jogging, riding a bike, or lifting weights and a loud beat with a powerful rhythm starts blasting through your headphones or speakers. You can really get into it and not want to stop your exercise until the song is over. You just can’t bring yourself to interrupt the beat or momentum that the music brings to you. Because of this you peddle further, run a extra mile, or do a few more repetitions. This is exactly how the music is suppose to help you.

So the question becomes, what are the right songs? For every person they will be different. One thing is for sure, up tempo will most certainly get your legs moving and your heart pumping. Even when just listening and not really exercising you tend to tap you feet and bounce around when a up tempo song is playing. Transfer that energy to exercise and you can see how it can be helpful.

Everybody has their own favorite music for workout. Here is just a partial list that people use during their workout routine:

Eye of the Tiger…Survivor

The Heat is On…..Glenn Fry

Walk This Way……Aerosmith

Under Pressure…..David Bowie

Feeling Alright…….Joe Cocker

Rio………………….Duran Duran

We Got the Beat….The Go Go’s

LA Women………..The Doors

Faster Car………..Keith Urban

Start Me Up……….Rolling Stones

And of course the list goes on and on. Everybody will have their favorite workout music mix. And there is nothing wrong with that. I’m sure that you probably have your own list of songs that inspire you to push yourself.

Music comes in real handy when doing a cardio workout. The more you can be filled with music and less obsessed with the reps or the burn the more you will be able to accomplish. Not only that but you exercise experience will be more enjoyable. That is what good music is really all about. It becomes the soundtrack to particular period of time during your day.

Music for exercise has been around as long as exercise itself. Before people started carrying around portable music devices, bands and recordings were played over PA systems. Music has always help to motivate people to achieve their goals.

Good workout music will inspire you to achieve more and be happy with the amount of work you are able to accomplish. There is no doubt that people need to push themselves in order to break out of a routine and set a new standard for themselves. Anything that helps people to accomplish that is certainly worth trying. And you can rest assured that there are plenty of people that will testify to the fact that music helps them in that department.

A good way to approach your workout plans is to sit in the quiet of your home or car and start to pick out the songs that you like listening to and that will get you motivated. Music for workout, pleasure, or motivation can all be the same as long as it accomplishes the goal that you are seeking. A good workout program will start off slow and build until your heart is pumping, you are sweating, and your limits are being tested. The music you are listening to should mirror the same path.

A fitness workout will keep you young and healthy. The music that accompanies your trip to the gym will also have the effect of keeping you young and healthy. Music has a certain way of transforming us to a place that is better than where we started out. And that is exactly how it helps us during a workout. The gym might be loud, smell of sweat, and can even be a chore, but the music you listen to can transport you to a place that is bright, crisp, and full of possibilities. The type of place you want to stay at and not leave. If that means a few extra minutes for your gym workout that will be fine.

I guess the one type of music that would be horrible to listen to during your workout program would be break up songs. They are so negative and depressing. Who can get inspired to press on while thinking negative thoughts like that?

A good workout exercise routine would always start with stretching and then a gradual build up to the max workout and then a cooling down period. Workout music should be just like that. When you stretch the music should be light and not too aggressive. When you are into your full blown workout the music needs a purpose, a beat, a pulse that creates tension, a long but definite build up to a crescendo. Then slowly decrease in speed and intensity while you cool down.

Did you know that Jane Fonda started the whole workout and stress reduction program craze back in the 1980’s. She had a workout for your abs, your buns and your thighs. And you can bet your bottom dollar that Jane listened to music as she worked out. I’m guessing Eye Of The Tiger was blasting as she did her aerobic routines. The 1980’s produced great workout music.

A hard workout deserves hard workout music. I’m thinking heavy metal. If you watch old videos from the MTV era you will see those people shaking the long hair on their heads like there was no tomorrow. I bet that burnt off more than a fuel calories. Of course all of those people are bald now. Wonder what they listen to?

When it comes to exercise workout music it is impossible not to give a mention to Olivia Newton-John of Grease Fame. Newton-John recorded the song “Lets Get Physical” and became a pioneer in the new music video business by filming a exercise video to the song. Well the song became synonymous with aerobics and made wearing a headband a fashion statement.

A good workout music cd can make all the difference in how your mind envisions you exercise time. If you listen to positive and energetic music you will probably view this time in the same manner. It is what you should strive for.

The bottom line is that workout music makes exercise more enjoyable.

Being overweight is an issue for many people. The excess weight does not only have an impact on your health but it also affects your way of life, your confidence and self esteem. The modern way of life makes people overweight and many people are looking for weight loss tips to help them lose the extra weight. What is important for people to understand is that there is no easy way to lose weight. That’s right, we can’t give you any easy weight loss tips. Weight loss takes time and requires a lot of effort and hard work but most importantly it requires willingness, commitment and patience.

People who want to lose weight agree on one thing. It is much easier to gain weight than to lose. In fact gaining weight has become a habit of daily life and the bad news is that people are getting accustomed to this. In order to lose those extra pounds the first thing you need to do is to decide how much weight you want to lose. Do not just say ‘I want to lose weight’. You should assign a number to your efforts and be more specific. This way you can break up your effort into stages and try to target one stage at a time. For example if you need to lose 10 pounds you can break your efforts into 2 stages of 5 pounds each. This method will help you lose weight.

The next step in the process is to start losing weight by taking care of your diet and activity levels. By diet we mean you should start being selective on what you eat and drink. Avoid full fat foods and sugar full drinks. Prefer low fat products and light soft drinks. Introduce more healthy items in your daily diet like fish, fruits and vegetables and leave out red meat, fried food, sweets and junk food. By eating healthy you are not only assisting your weight loss efforts but you also offer many benefits to your health. Another weight loss tip related to diet is to remove all temptations from your house. Take some time and clear up your fridge and cupboards and remove any items that may destroy your efforts. Not having to deal with food temptations will make it easier for you to lose weight.

When it comes to activity levels you have a lot of choices. Remember that your goal is to do physical activities that will help you burn more calories. Any type of exercise, sport or activity that helps your body burn more calories is suitable. Choose anything that you like and find it as fun. You do not have to join a gym if you do not want to, instead you can start a sport and spend your time enjoyably while at the same time you burn calories. What is fun is to have a soundtrack for you physical activity by simply listening to your own chosen workout music.

The above weight loss tips are only a snapshot of what you can do for a better lifestyle; and this is what weight loss is all about. Weight loss should aim at losing weight so that you feel better and live a healthier life.

Every diet guru in the known universe will tell you that they have 100 weight loss tips. Of course once you start reading through these diet tips it becomes apparent that most are either fluff or would simply be unhealthy to follow.

Perhaps the best example of the garbage that will appear on a list like that is something called the laxative diet. Don’t you even think about trying that. Not only does it not work but it is very dangerous and unhealthy.

There are plenty of qualified people and organizations that will give you free weight loss tips and plenty of good advice about losing weight. All you have to do is ask. The government, federal and state, have agencies that print up and disperse plenty of documents on health, diet, and exercise. You should take advantage of this service. You are paying for it with your tax money.

I am going to let you in on a secret. The best tips on weight loss can be summed up with two points.

Eat healthy

Exercise

Those are two healthy weight loss tips that will serve you well as you make your way down to your ideal weight.

Something you need to be aware of are claims companies and people will make concerning rapid weight loss. Let me tell you, rapid weight loss tips are very dangerous. There really is no healthy way to lose weight in a hurry. In the long run you will gain it back and in the short term you will hurt your body.

Going on a diet and sticking to it over the long haul is difficult. If it were easy then everybody would be thin and fit. Simple weight loss tips won’t work. Just diet (eating healthy) and exercise will work. Please try and understand that. There are no short cuts or secret ways of accomplishing you weight loss goals.

Weight loss diet tips are fine and dandy as long as you continue to eat healthy and exercise. It really should be a law that weight loss tips be accurate and healthy.

Most people who are overweight have become so because of several different factors. A lot of people just eat too much. Some people eat because they are sad, other people eat because they are surrounded by food in their workplace, or more commonly, people just have a natural tendency to put on weight as they get older. Another reason for putting on weight is lack of exercise. The equation of burning the same amount of calories as you are taking in applies just so that you can maintain the same weight. As you get older, the rate that your metabolism burns calories tends to slow right down. This means that you will have to do a bit more to help your body burn off the extra calories.

If you are trying to find a system to help you lose weight and you’re looking for a quick solution, you have to not only reduce the amount of calories that you are taking in, you also have to expend more calories. This means taking exercise. How to lose weight with exercise is not going to be easy, especially in the beginning.

This is called exercise.

One of the best forms on how to lose weight through exercise is by practicing interval training. The problem with normal types of exercise, going out to a long brisk walk or jogging up and down the football field, is that your body takes a while to get used to the exercise, to build up stamina, once the stamina has been established, your body gets used to the exercise and that particular exercise stops being as effective. Interval training tries to overcome this problem. The way interval training works is you start out at one level of effort and you raise the level at specific intervals, going back to the original level of effort to recover.

I will give you an example. Let’s say that you normally go out for a 5 km brisk walk. With interval training you would divide that 5 km into different sections. The sections could be divided up either in terms of distance or they can be in terms of time. So, if you’re 5 km walk normally takes an hour to achieve, you break it down into sections of one minutes to begin with. You walk for one minute, and then you run for one minute. Each minute of running is interspersed with a period where you are getting your breath back, recovery. This can be longer than one minute at the beginning, possibly five minutes. The idea now is to put your body through different intensities of workout. Your body is unable to get used to this as quickly, thus burning more calories.

You will find that this form of exercise to lose weight is far more beneficial to you. Once your stamina has increased, you should increase the interval times. Eventually you will be able to jog during your recovery periods and sprint for your high-intensity periods. You can also use this method of high intensity interval training when you are doing a circuit of the local gym.

Does running help you lose weight is what a lot of people want to know. The answer is yes. If your goal is to get fit, lose weight, and feel healthy then running is certainly a step in the right direction. One thing you should keep in mind about running is that it is hard on your body. Something less stressful like walking, swimming, or biking are examples of less stressful exercises.

Lets talk about specific foods that help you lose weight:

High In Fiber Foods have bulk and will make you feel full. ie..whole wheat bread, wheat bran, and fruits.

Juicy Foods have lots of water contained in them will help to fill you up. i.e…watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes.

Lean Protein will stir up your metabolism and help you burn calories. i.e.. Chicken, tuna, and salmon

People ask all sorts of questions when it comes to weight loss. Some of these questions are quite insightful and some are just downright weird. Let’s go through a few of the more popular ones and see if we can separate fact from myth.

Does Milk Help You Lose Weight? Yes it does and there is research to back this up. You need to drink three 8oz glasses of fat free milk every day to lose more weight then people who don’t drink the milk.

Does Drinking Water Help You Lose Weight? Yes…Water is extremely import if you are looking for a way to help you lose weight. It will expand on your bodies ability to metabolize fat.

Do Laxatives Help You Lose Weight? No they do not. This is so dangerous it is not even worth trying. Do not use laxatives to lose weight. They won’t help and may very well harm you.

Does Yoga Help You Lose Weight? Probably not. Most yoga routines are very beneficial for many reasons but not for losing weight.

Does Grapefruit Help You Lose Weight? Yes!! There are many scientific reason why this is true but all you need to know is that eating half a grapefruit every day will help you lose weight.

Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help You Lose Weight? NO…

Vitamins That Help You Lose Weight? No…But you need vitamins to stay healthy while losing weight. But by themselves, vitamins are not weight loss pills.

Exercise and eating right are really the only two things you need to help you lose weight. Maybe some good workout music to keep your mind occupied while in the gym will be helpful. And if food seems like an addiction to you then get some medical help. Whatever it takes to help you lose weight you should do.
