Pahrump Nevada considers itself the heart of the old west. It is a small quaint suburb of Las Vegas with a population of about 35,000 during the winter months. During the summer when the temperature soars the population goes down. In state of Nevada, Pahrump is legally considered a settlement and thus is the largest settlement in the United States.
Pahrump is known around the world for many different reasons. Perhaps one of the more unusual sources of Pahrump’s popularity is that it has brothels. What you say? That’s right legal prostitution, whore houses, ladies of the night at work! At one time Pahrump Nevada land was mostly farms and ranches. But all of that has changed and now farming for the most part has disappeared from the valley.
I don’t want you getting the wrong impression of Pahrump. Sure it is unusual in many ways, but it has its good side that many people are attracted to. Did you know that Art Bell lives in Pahrump? That’s right Art Bell the famous radio personality. Ok, so he saw a few UFO’s…maybe he really did! Also, Michael Jackson owned a house here. And before you start thinking that Pahrump is some backwards town you should know that part of the movie “Rain Man” was filmed here. And if that doesn’t get you thinking that Pahrump is like the Hollywood of Nevada maybe this little tidbit will: Martians landed in Pahrump and let everybody know that they “Come In Peace” in the blockbuster movie, Mars Attacks.
One of the premier driving schools in the country is located in Pahrump. If you attend the Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School you can choose between a 1 to 3 day class in a Performance Driving School that is put on by Ron Fellows. There is also a two day school that teaches you radical racing. And not to be missed is the Lotus Driving Schools. If you have a few extra bucks then you might want to sign up for the private instruction that the school offers.
This is a real fun school and offers an experience you will never forget. There are a variety of different driving packages that you can choose from at this special Pahrump Nevada driving school. By the end of your visit you will have learned the skills necessary to become a expert race driver.
Pahrump Nevada weather is perfect for the Spring Mountain Advance Driving School. It makes it possible for them to hold classes all year.
If you know somebody who has just purchased a High Performance Corvette then a class at the the Ron Fellows school would make a great gift.
What makes this class so exciting is that no matter if you have a C6 to a Z06 Corvette you will be able to put on 300 miles during the class.
There are many hotels in Pahrump Nevada. Some of them have casinos in them and others don’t. So your preference is going to determine which type of hotel you stay at.
The Best Western is actually a Motel. It is located on the main drag and does not have a casino. It is conveniently located close to the post office, RV park and plenty of restaurants. It is nice, quiet, and a tad boring.
The Saddle West is located on Hwy 160. It is newly renovated (about 2 years ago) and has a full casino. This hotel also has a restaurant and movie theater.
Perhaps the best of the hotels in Pahrump Nevada is the Pahrump Nugget. It is big, fairly new, has a lounge, two restaurants, and a bowling alley. The rooms are large and clean. The Nugget has a great buffet…you should try it out.
Speaking of buffets….Terrible Lakeside Casino — RV Park has a really good buffet and a lake to boot. It is located off the main drag on Homestead. Not to far away from a famous NV ranch that you may or may not of heard of. Let’s see could it be a Pahrump ranch named The Shady Lady Ranch, or The Bunny Ranch, maybe The Chicken Ranch, or even Sherri’s Ranch?
Let’s move onto Pahrump Nevada Jobs. Besides the few government jobs that you would never be able to get (unless somebody dies) there are not too many “quality” jobs to be had. The largest employers in Pahrump are WalMart and Home Depot….End of story! If you are retired or don’t mind driving to Las Vegas every day this isn’t too big of a deal.
Pahrump Nevada land was once a speculators dream. Those days are gone and probably for good. Residential and commercial land was so over priced that they were bound to fall back to reality. The good news is that houses are very affordable in Pahrump and most of the houses that are for sale sit on at least half an acre of land and are semi-custom.
The hotels in Pahrump Nevada are a good place to stay if you are going to be looking at houses. Because of the real estate “bust” there are plenty of pre-owned homes on the market. It will take you a few days to see all that are in your price range.
When you plan your trip out to Pahrump NV you could take your chances and drive the 60 miles from Las Vegas and hope there are rooms available for you to stay when you get into town. But a better plan would be to consult with a online travel agency and make sure that you have a room waiting for you when you arrive.
