Last month I had the unenviable task of redecorating my daughter’s bedroom. This task came about after several months of being moaned at about how old her décor was and how uncomfortable her bed was. So after taking the hint and more importantly to stop the noise emanating from my daughter I decided to redecorate.
My daughter currently sleeps in the smallest bedroom of the house, so decorating it wasn’t going to be a big a mammoth task. Having a small bedroom, although being easy to decorate, had its fair share of problems. The obvious one being the available space issue. This factor played a big part in my decision to replace her current divan bed. I narrowed the choices down to either a cabin bed or a platform bed. In the end I decided on the cabin bed.
Cabin beds are an amazing invention as they maximize the space that small bedrooms don’t have by raising the sleeping level in some cases to almost head height. Because the level is raised it forms a space underneath that can be filled with almost anything. More often than not additional needed storage space is how the underneath space is utilized. Having initially looked around several bed shops in my local area, I only came across a couple of cabin beds which is what put me on to the idea. However the ranges of styles were very limited and quite often unappealing to a ten year old girl.
I then decided to search online where I found an absolute abundance of styles, themes and sizes. My daughter was incredibly excited as we looked at some with princess castle themes that were complete with turrets and flag poles. We even found some with slides which she really wanted at first until I reminded her of the size of her room. In the end we opted for a cabin bed with a small wardrobe and an area for a TV underneath which we both really liked.
