The family vacation has been planned and the kids are chomping at the bit to go, what mobile video system do you choose to install?  Let’s face it, going on a vacation with the kids can be a memorable experience that they will remember forever, however, the trip can be really hectic if they are in the back seat and have nothing to do but bug you. It’s a fact, whether it’s just a short trip or that long vacation, if the kids are occupied it makes it easier and more enjoyable for you—the parents.

There are many mobile video systems to choose from. Here are a few tips to get you started.  Consider the safety factor.  After all, they will be in a car seat right? The worse thing that can happen is your mobile video system generates a lot of fuzz.  What will happen is they will bother you to get it going or they will try and mess with it themselves. You will be frustrated, try and turn around to get it going or worse yet pull off the road suddenly and cause a traffic accident. So a system that is easy to operate will also be safe.

A car TV is something that we all wish was installed in the station wagon when we were kids.  Today the options available for mobile video are endless.  You can get a car DVD with headrest monitors, there are overhead flip down monitors, car video that can play the best movies shot on a high definition camcorder, and a car video player that will envy what you have set up in your home theater system.

Did you know that you can even have a satellite television in your car?  Really!

And a mobile video system can also be used as a navigation tool for you.  No fiddling around with those stupid road maps that have such small print they are hard to see and before you know it—you missed your exit.  We all have been there, right? Some of the mobile systems today provide voice and visual directions so that won’t happen. This is an invaluable feature for those trips in unknown territory that you have never traveled before. Trust me, well worth any money you pay for it.

A nice safety feature of some systems is the inclusion of a back up camera.  These camera’s are a real help in seeing blind spots and any object that might be hidden from your view.

There is actually a wireless spy pen that you can feed into the system and that will let you see what is going on in the back seat with a small PC monitor mounted on the dash. You can keep your eyes on your precious little bundles of joy without having to turn around.  Now that is real convenience!

Here are just a few suggestions to get the heart pumping.  Once you start investigating the systems out there you will be amazed as they are simply awesome pieces of equipment.  For even more convenience some of the mobile video equipment can easily be taken out of your car and used at the beach or in a hotel room.  With the new battery chargers that are available you truly can go mobile.

So before you pack the van or car, make sure you ask yourself, “What mobile video system do I choose” for our vacation.  Once installed you will have a much better ride!  Happy traveling!
